David Greenberger

David Greenberger is the publisher and creator of the zine The Duplex Planet, which first appeared in 1979.

According to Greenberger, "The Duplex Planet is an ongoing work designed to portray a wide variety of real characters who are old or in decline. In our culture, exposure to people at this point in their lives is generally limited to seeing family members age and since that points directly to one's own mortality, it's hard to glean much in the way of an objective example." -from www.duplexplanet.com.

The Duplex Planet has resulted in three books, 8 CDs, nearly 150 issues of the magazine, and dozens of comics. His work has been the subject of two documentaries, and he has been interviewed on NPR, BBC and CBC, and appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

His commentaries are heard regularly on NPR's "All Things Considered." As a designer he has produced over a hundred album covers for acts such as R.E.M., NRBQ, Henry Kaiser, Brave Combo, Young Fresh Fellows, Albert King and Tiny Tim.

David Greenberger lives in upstate New York with his wife and daughter.
